INVESTMENT CRAZE OR CRASH?

Greetings Friends 5%, 10%, 15%, 25% –  those figures can make your investment account become the apple of your eye, or the spice that leads to hypertension. Are they realistic? I have learnt how to trade on the forex market, and I know of novice traders who have turned there US$1000 mini trading account into to $8000 in less than a day and I also know those who have standard accounts over US$5000 who have lost most of it. So the individual trader can make over 25% in a trade but he/she can lose big. People, I personally am very cautious of clubs/institutions that guarantee above 15% every month.

Since Lewfam and Olint were ‘raided’ by the FSC, these  clubs have received much attention in the public fora. Infact, a number of other clubs/organizations have emerged through the grape vines and there seems to be this investment craze, as different investement groups (new and old, bad and good) have tailed the ’bad publicity is good publicity’ waggon.

I advise new investors and potential investors, dont play hopscotch with your money.

Dont run down the big percentages. Aim for a solid investment portfolio by diversifying your investments. Too many persons have all there money tied in high risk investments. I am apart of investment clubs (only 2, as a poor man, I would only consider a 3rd when there is an increase in my cashflow) but I can never vouch 100% for any investment club/ house. Even after much research, an organization that seems to possess longevitity and authenticity may end up being a scam or it may CRASH based upon a number of reasons.

Please stay away from investment clubs/organizations:

  • With a high level of anonimity Guaranteeing extreemly high returns
  • With very technical and unclear payout, withdrawal and deposit processes
  • That do not ensure that members are compliant with the anti-money laundering act.
  • with a suit address or no permanent mailing address or phone number. There are many people who steal people’s money from laptops in hotel rooms.

Please do your research and invest wisely. Blessings!!  _________________________________________________________________________ Andre P. Llewellyn (c) 2007

    The banks just cannot cope.
I call JNBS yesterday and they said they will keep the cheques for seven working days before they are cashed. People with returns like $24 millions want to get their moeny same day. I dont think the banks have so much money at that time.

World wise is crap – they treat their customers like crap – you wait all day – sometimes days to get you interest payment. Their customer service is the pits. I feel strongly based on personal experience that they they have a cash flow money problems. I only hope I can get my money out in time before the bomb drops. People are withdrawing by the hordes

    # 13 All said people like you don’t belong in clubs you are the one causing panic and run on the clubs. I see why they decide to up the fee on you to $5000 so you will keep your $500.00 in you pocket or at NCB, SCOTIA, etc. Keep your experience they they as you said above.

Agree with # 13. Good to keep people like those out. I collect my interest on thursday and i wont say there was not a little hassle but I went late in the aftrnoon and got it and have it changed at RBTT the very next day. So u must expect some delay if alot of people going there for payment and NCB not accepting payment to account for those who requested.

    Dear Club Member

As you may be aware, your customer service provider Olint Corp Limited experienced many challenges since March 2006. This has affected the operations of the Club but we remain committed to the goal of change, and helping to position Club Members to positively contribute to the development of their families and their societies. We intend to continue these efforts even as we face the recent challenges of the due diligence exercise which started late last year. We are confident that it will all work out for the good of our Club and that we will be rewarded in due course.

We wish to take this opportunity to, once again, state how much we regret the long wait that you are experiencing in getting your encashments. As we have communicated to you before, we are committed to resolving this situation beginning at the end of May 2008, and will be meeting with the brokers and them with their bankers, in a little over a week to this end.

In the meantime, please note that we will be required to review the withdrawal patterns of Club Members to ensure that loyal Club Members are duly recognized. Once these reviews are completed it may result in a reduction in the number of members in the Club to more manageable numbers, one of the major recommendations offered by our Consultants. These Consultants, comprising experts in the fields of law, finance, management, and accounting, have been working with us to establish and adopt international best practices and first world operating standards.

The review exercise, and resulting recommendations, and adopted policies and procedures will be communicated at the aforementioned meeting in May. Once these are accepted we will present them to the Club in our new club charter.

Kindly note that as part of the changes, we will be adopting a new payout policy to come into effect on June 1, 2008. These changes will be communicated to Olint Corp Limited, the customer service provider in Jamaica , by May 12, 2008 for onward communication to you. The new provisions will ensure the stability of our Club, allowing us to meet promised deadlines for encashments, while facilitating unexpected encashment needs in emergency situations.

As a result of these changes please note that any request made during or after the month of May will be managed by the new encashment policy that comes into effect on June 1st.

If you have made requests prior to May 1, 2008 that are not yet honoured you will not be affected under the new system and you will be informed of cheque delivery/pick-up dates on May 26, 2008.

Historically we find that where meaningful change is established across a society, usually some form of sacrifice is necessary. We too may be going through a lot but rest assured it will pass and in the end we will be better equipped to achieve our goals.

Thank you for your patience, loyalty and understanding.

    David A. Smith

    President – Olint TCI

    CARIEF JOINS THE LIST….

“CAREIF’s CEO Anthony Tharpe yesterday issued a three-page memo to his seven-member staff in Kingston advising them that, among other things, the company had no money and that they should seek employment elsewhere. An insider told the Observer the plan was to retain a few “core people” and have them operate out of the company’s Miami office.”

I feel very sorry for all the folks that have lost money in so called “alternative investment schemes”. When people I know were throwing money at these schemes I was trying all along to warn them to only do so with money they could afford to lose. Not that anyone wants to lose any money at all, but there’s a big difference between losing what you can afford to lose and losing what you cannot. Betting $100 on a horse race is different from betting the farm, right?

Unfortunately, the novices and in some cases criminals that set-up and ran some of the better known pyramid and ponzi schemes and advisories, from Cash Plus to World Wise to Higgins Warner to Olint to Money Express to Capital Blu, got the better of hard working honest people who simply wanted a chance to make money enough to live their dreams. Hopefully, some way some how, folks will recover at least some of the money they handed to these pretenders. Personally I don’t believe this will happen, but I really hope it does for peoples sake.

The absolute truth of the matter that needs to be told to investors or prospective investors is that there is no easy way in the world to make money and certainly not in the capital markets. Take it from a 10 year veteran of markets – stocks and forex. Returns of 10-20% per month are possible but simply not sustainable for more than a month or two at a time and before a losing month brings the trader back to reality. This it simply the nature of the beast. Trading is a game of probabilities. Much like poker or black jack. And probably the most important fact of all, which very few people know, is that less than 10% of traders are successful at trading markets. To put this in some perspective, someone would have a better chance of becoming a rocket scientist than they would at becomeing a successful trader.

Over a twelve month period, it is possible to make gains of 100 or 120%, however, that would be an extraordinary year and would be checkered with losing months. Certainly making 10% month after month and year after year is simply not possible and has NEVER been done in the 200 years history of markets. This certainty was never more crystalized by the life and times of argueably the greatest stock market trader of all time, Jesse Livermore, who made and lost fortunes several times over during his colorful lifetime.

Those alternative investment schemes that were born of the forex mania that was sweeping the world, from Singapore to New York from Canada to Argentina from Europe to the West Indies, were nothing more than want-to-be traders who thought they discovered the fountain of money in the markets or who thought they could convince people they did. Not to make fun of a dire situation, but when I think about the many novices, schemers, and scammers, it conjures up images of children playing with matches.

My advice to folks wanting to take advantage of the huge money making opportunities in the capital markets is to think about using markets to buid long-term wealth and not for short-term gains. Invest for the longer-term. Not that short-term gains cannot be made, but participating in markets as a trader requires dedicating time, effort, and money to learn. Such a learning curve is steep, and not suitable for most people. Do not let anyone fool you. MTI has done a good job of fooling hundreds into believing they can do a two-day course and be off making money. Not true. You will lose everything and then some.

Also, never ever give your hard earned money to anyone to trade or invest for you. Open your own brokerage account and invest for yourself and always be in control of your money. Enough emphasis cannot be placed on this. It requires a little time and work but whoever made money without working for it? Invest in stocks and commodities not forex – forex makes for good trading because the market is volatile and constantly moves up and down but forex is not a means of investing. Finally find and take guidance from a REAL professional about how to invest in stocks and commodities.

Those interested in getting more guidance on investing can drop me a line at tradermav@flowja.com.

    All the best.
